What makes a 100% Colombian Coffee better than the rest?
Most supermarket brands consist of blends of different origins with different quality levels. A 100% Colombian Coffee brand like Cafe Los Andes is guaranteed to contain only "the richest coffee in the world", with no other origins blended in.
This is clearly reflected in the

There are two basic bean types: Robusta and Arabica
In Colombia, where 12% of the world's coffee is produced, only Arabica coffee is grown. Arabica is a delicate coffee plant, harder to grow and involving higher production costs. Ripe arabica cherries fall to the ground and spoil easily; they must be carefully monitored and picked at intervals -unlike ripe cherries from robusta trees, which require less care -they remain on the tree after they ripen.
Are considered the highest quality beans and therefore are usually more expensive. They grow best in high altitudes and produce a very flavorful and aromatic coffee, low in caffeine and acidity. Arabica is the only coffee type grown in Colombia.
Are considered by the trade to produce an inferior tasting beverage than Arabica (less flavorful and aromatic), it is widely used in instant and less expensive coffees. As the name indicates, this tree can withstand harsher temperatures and conditions than most; it is mostly grown in the eastern hemisphere. It produces a cup with twice the amount of caffeine of Arabica and is high in acidity.
